The Eagles Mere Conservancy board of Directors is very excited to announce the acquisition of approximately 75 acres of important woodlands, formerly owned by the Eagles Mere Country Club.
The Conservancy views this transaction as a win-win for the Country Club, the Conservancy, Eagles Mere, and the broader Sullivan County community. This parcel includes the valuable headwaters of the Kettle Creek watershed, which are extremely important in maintaining the ecological balance in our area. In addition, these woodlands contain critical habitat for several animal species of special concern, as well as a few species of rare plant life. The acquisition of this property will ensure it is not developed in the future, thus adding to the existing Conservancy holdings that help conserve and maintain our natural resources. The Conservancy would like to extend its heartfelt thanks to all of those individuals, from both organizations, who worked so diligently to make this effort a reality. We look forward to celebrating this transaction next year. |
